CYPRUS AUTHORITIES HARDEN COVID-19 COVID-19

On Wednesday, July 7, the government of the Republic of Cyprus tightened measures to combat the coronavirus in connection with a sharp deterioration in the epidemiological situation (only 67 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the country on June 21, and 827 on July 6). The new health minister, Michalis Hadjipantelas, announced the new restrictions.

From 9 to 31 July, limit the number of visitors to cafes, restaurants, bars and nightclubs, as well as theaters, stadiums (excluding football matches), temples, cinemas, and banquet halls. In indoor areas, limit the number of people present to 250 (if SafePass is available) or 350 if they received at least one vaccination at least three weeks ago or had been ill with Covid-19 within six months.

In open areas - up to 350 and 500, respectively.

The presence of a vaccination certificate will not be required for adolescents from 12 to 15 years old and persons aged 16+ who are prohibited from vaccination for medical reasons.

To enter crowded places, they will need to submit a certificate with a negative result of an express test passed within 72 hours.

Owners and managers of establishments are responsible for compliance with the measures.

Police and inspectors monitor SafePass availability.
